What People Are Saying

Rich,

I wanted to send this to you after getting my own A flute of yours. Please make them in other keys as soon as you can, they are truly the only flutes we have fought over and we need them in other keys as well!

Joanne and I have 34 NA Flutes right now so we really have a feel for which ones work best. Your ABS NA Style Flutes are the ONLY Flute we have two exactly the same

The reason is we both were always wanting to play THAT Flute! I recently went to a flute circle and brought this flute and told the others that this was the fastest playing flute we had, it doesn't break into anther octave accidentally, rarely wets out, and when composing a song it is most often the flute I choose. Trouble free, reliable as can be, loud and clear tones, perfectly tuned. Once you play it you won't care what it's made of!

This flute is spot on, always works, (it's the one to take to the beach) I Think you could take it swimming and come out of the water playing.

This is really about evolution. Better sound than many flutes costing THREE TIMES the price, faster to play without slipping the notes, more reliable, not temperature or moisture sensitive. This is the one you always want to have with you. If you have two flute players in the family you'll want to have two of these. Trust me, I know!

Respectfully yours,

Kevin Degnan

I played the flute by a park lake yesterday while my son ran off some energy. Sweet tone and impervious to the 70-80% humidity we've been having.

Rich,

Just thought I'd let you know --

We LOVE the flutes, and it has made a world of difference in our flute class.  I'm impressed with the intonation, ease of playing, and sturdy construction that is evidenced in each of the flutes, and I know they'll hold up to years of use.

Happy New Year!!! A long over-due thank-you for your talent, creativity and inventiveness. We are in the process of learning to play the flutes and I am so pleased to have so many students EXCITED about the process. WOW!!!!

I appreciated how smooth the flute making process went thanks to your explicit directions especially from the Youtube videos.I hope to see you at Spring Fling.
Once again, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you Rich!!!!

Here's to many more hours of music making and touching  the hearts of so many children. All the best in 2011!
Sincerely,
Cheryl Stephenson

We are embarking on our flute journey on Tuesday as you know. I needed 10 flutes for my upcoming "new crop" of flutists, and so I spent about an hour last night making those up! With EACH one, I was just amazed at how slick this process is and how wonderful it is to pick that "newly hatched flute" up and PLAY!!! Just like that! What a delight! I think you are a genius and I know that these children are just going to fly with these flutes!!! (The recorder journey has not been so successful...aaaaah!)

Talk soon and very best wishes for a wonderful weekend with your family! Aaaah... you have no idea the respect I have for you and your vision of providing these instruments to children across the country!!!! :)

Thanks again Rich! Everything arrived and people loved the flutes! You have a very special program here.

I look forward to working with you again!

Thanks, Richard, for a really great class. I've been playing you're flute way more than the other new flutes I brought back from this year's INAFA.

The flute that you so generously gave to me has been given to a very deserving at-risk teenager from a local native tribe.  I was doing an artist in residence program and this young man picked up the flute that I had been bringing with me and began to make incredible music with it.  This kid had been in a reserved shell for the entire program until he picked up that flute.  By the time he was done, another at risk teen had joined him in a duet with her singing.  Tears and joy were in full abundance.

It was immediately clear after that young man picked it up that that flute was now his.

I just wanted to let you know that it found a deserving and permanent home.

Rich,

Hope all’s well. We met you at INAFA and were really impressed with your new flute kit.
This is a heads-up that I will probably be coming to you shortly with an order of 25 – 35 to be used for Scouts. Won’t need them in hand until December 11. Using them for Indian Lore and Music Merit Badge as well as to introduce/teach the NAF.

Jim & Donna Murphy

I can reach all of these kids. I can’t thank you enough.

It’s just so beautiful. It’s such a joy to see kids grow.

Just received the flutes - Wow they play wonderfully!!!  I have several NAF flutes and have been playing for a long time.  Your flute plays with and sounds with the best them. What a wonderful gift you have created for everyone . . . FUZEN . . . blowing Zen.

Thank you again and I am saving to by the kit I want to share the gift with my friends and fellow Tai Chi enthusiasts.  Great way to learn breath.

"I had the honor of getting a phone call, one day, from Rich Dubé of Northern Spirit Flutes. He asked me if I would help him with designing flutes, he was working on, that are made entirely from U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved ABS plastic and explained to me that it was for children, so that they would be able to learn how to make and play these wonderful instruments at a very affordable price. I could tell in his voice that Rich was extremely sincere and committed to this project. Having children learn about this instrument is very important to me as well, so I told him to ask away with any questions he may have had and I would be happy to help him however I could. Rich called me several times and sent me several design ideas via E-mail to look at and discuss. He purchased a flute from me so that he could visually see how I made my wood flutes. Rich got as close as possible (molds permitting), making a very doable design. These flutes play very well and are fantastic for children to learn on. I tip my hat to Richard for staying so dedicated and for spending hours and hours of his time and using his own money to finance this project for the kids.
Rich, you are a good man with a good spirit....."
